Committee Documentation-PublicDiscussion, one of the events of UI Communication Week 2023.

DEPOK-TheUI Communication Week (Pekom), which has been running since February 2023, has closed the first stage of registration for three competitions: Journalight, Advertising War, and
PR Vaganza
. Meanwhile, registration for the
Media Matters
competition is still open until now.

Throughout the registration period, Pekom has received applications from various universities across Indonesia. “There are even applicants from Tadulako University in Palu, UNS, UK Petra, Udayana University. What’s interesting is that many are not from the faculty or department of Communication Science,” explained Aditya Manggala, Coordinator of Pekom Competition, April 3, 2023.

Pekom also promoted and socialized the competition through various social media such as Instagram and TikTok. Competition information was shared online through media channels as well as the UI Communication Week 2023 website.

Within a month of opening registration, Pekom received more than fifty groups. Of the total registrants, students can participate in four competitions.

The most participants came from Universitas Padjadjaran, followed by Universitas Indonesia and Universitas Gadjah Mada. Participants will take part in a series of competitions starting from the
preliminary, semifinal,
and
final
. The entire event will run until its culmination on May 13, 2023.

The organizers are now in the process of preparing each stage, “We are making sure the participants can be comfortable and have a positive experience,” said Aditya.

One of the participants, Adinda Nur, a Communication Science student at the University of Indonesia, has registered for the Advertising War competition . “I’ve always studied advertising, but I want to be able to apply it to the world of work. So I joined Pekom to practice directly,” she said.

Because it was organized by her own department, Adinda felt more interested in participating in this competition, even though at the same time, the Midterm Examination was taking place. “It’s not too
challenging.
We
work on
stage
preliminary
only two days,” said Adinda. Nonetheless, the challenge was insightful.

In addition to participating in the competition, participants can also take part in a series of other Communication Week events, such as
Career Day,
Public Discussion,
Workshop,
and
Company Visit.
